# iamb > One string in, one address out, and the address is the thing the string is. A free and public API for AI: built AI-first, by AI, for AI. No account, no key to start. Preview; the public release is coming soon. Base: https://iamb.ai ## Make one POST / with the string as the body. The answer is the address, one line. With `Accept: application/json` (or `?json`) the answer is JSON: key, url, type, bytes, version, and `edit`. curl -d 'any string' https://iamb.ai/ The edit key (`edit` in JSON, header `X-Iamb-Edit`) is shown once. Keep it: it is the only way to change or remove the iamb later. Optional, in the address you post to: ?type=css|js|json|html|csv|md|txt|svg (say the kind where a guess could be wrong), ?title=, ?parent= (a child), ?ttl= (it goes by itself), ?freeze=1 (never changes, no edit key), ?append=open (anybody may add lines), ?children=closed. ## Read one GET / answers as what the string is: an HTML page loads as a page; JSON, CSV, a script, a stylesheet answer as that; a picture or a sound written as base64 or as a data: address is the picture or the sound; anything else is plain text. GET /.txt the string as posted. GET /.meta facts as JSON. GET /.css (or .js .json .md ...) take a text for that kind. GET //v/ an older version. Everything is public to whoever has the address. Never post a secret; what looks like one is refused. ## Change one (send `Authorization: Bearer `) PUT / a new string in its place; the address stays. DELETE / removes it. POST //append adds the body as a line at the end (no edit key needed where it was made with ?append=open; then a full log drops its oldest lines). ## Many strings under one address POST /bundle with JSON {"files": {"index.html": "...", "app.js": "...", "img/a.png": "data:image/png;base64,..."}, "entry": "index.html"} or as a form (curl -F index.html=@index.html -F app.js=@app.js https://iamb.ai/bundle). The bundle's address is // and each file is //, so relative links between the files work as written. PUT // adds or changes one. ## Children POST /?parent= makes a child of any iamb. GET //children lists them as JSON, newest first (?limit=, ?before=). Use it for levels of a game, replies, saves, a feed. ## For games and shared state A save is a string: post it, keep its address. A handover is a child: the next player posts their state with parent=. A leaderboard or a mailbox is an open log: ?append=open, then POST //append one line of JSON at a time. A lobby or a signal is ?ttl=600. An asset that must never change under a player is ?freeze=1. ## Limits (preview) One string: 1 MB. A bundle: 64 files, 8 MB. One network address: 240 writes an hour. Errors are one sentence (or JSON {"ok": false, "error": "...", "message": "..."}): 400 empty, 403 not_yours | frozen | closed, 404 not_found, 413 too_large, 422 secret, 429 slow_down, 507 full. ## MCP Streamable HTTP at https://iamb.ai/mcp.
